The Position

Rightsline is currently looking for an enthusiastic Jr. DevOps Engineer to fill a 100% remote role. The person in this role will report to the DevOps Manager and work primarily in Rightsline’s AWS environment to support internal and external users, perform routine maintenance of Windows and AWS resources, and develop CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and AWS Lambda automation.


You will be working in a collaborative environment with a team who shares your passion for building impactful solutions with cutting edge technology and a dedication to taking every other Friday off (seriously).


What you will do:

  • Support internal and external AWS and Windows Active Directory users
  • Develop AWS Lambda functions to support DevOps AWS automation and monitoring systems (Serverless framework).
  • System monitoring, issue resolution, troubleshooting, and emergency escalation
  • Help maintain and manage code deployments in all environments (Git, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline)
  • Use and maintain a custom docker image containing DevOps team CLI tools
  • Make changes to AWS by utilizing infrastructure as code (Terraform) and system provisioning (Ansible, AWS Image Builder)
  • Monitor AWS CloudWatch dashboards and respond to alarms
  • Follow all best practices and procedures as established by the company

What you will bring to the role:

  • 1+ years of experience in software development or automation scripting
  • 1+ years of experience working with workloads running in a cloud environment
  • 2+ years working with a Windows server environment
  • A strong desire and ability to reduce toil through the use of automation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work in an autonomous manner and deliver consistent results with little oversight

Tech stack must haves:

  • AWS or other cloud hosting environments experience
  • Programming or scripting language(s) (python, node, C#, golang, bash, etc)
  • Familiarity with using command line tools
  • Version control systems experience (git)
  • Docker containers (building and running)
  • CI/CD build, deploy, test pipelines (ex. Jenkins, CodeBuild, Github Actions)
  • Basic Windows server administration experience
  • Basic computer networking knowledge (VPCs, subnets, NAT, routing, etc)

Nice-to-haves:

  • Linux system administration experience
  • Experience maintaining Windows Active Directory domains
  • Experience maintaining cloud infrastructure with IaC (ex. Terraform, CloudFormation, SAM, CDK) and systems configuration automation (ex. ansible, puppet)
  • Familiarity with AWS monitoring via CloudWatch (logs, insights, dashboards, alarms, custom metrics)
  • Serverless Framework or other framework for managing AWS Lambdas
  • Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS, WAFs, and network ACLs
  • CI/CD experience with AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy
  • Container orchestration
  • AWS Systems Manager experience for patch management and automation
  • Experiences with other AWS Services: FSx, SSO, Workspaces, Backup, Route 53, ACM, RDS, AWS Config, S3, SNS, SQS, EventBridge

Our 5 Stage Recruitment Process

  • Review - We review applications and screen based on a variety of criteria
  • Phone - Candidates will be screened via a quick 20-minute Zoom meeting to discuss the role opportunity
  • Task - Finalists will complete a small task to show off their skills.
  • Interview - We will conduct 2-3 stages of interviews via Zoom
  • Offer - We will make an offer to the candidate that we feel would excel most in the role.
